Membership

We are an inclusive, egalitarian and caring community. We realise that people join synagogues for a variety of reasons and encourage new members to join in both the religious and social activities.

We appreciate that deciding about joining may not be an overnight process.

If you would like more information about membership, or would like to speak to one of our clergy, please telephone the office on 01923 856110, and the team will be happy to help.

If you would like to attend one of our regular Shabbat services on a Friday evening (starting at 6.30pm), or on a Saturday morning (starting at 10.30am), we would be delighted to see you.

Benefits of Membership

Membership enables you and those who may be joining with you to fully engage with the rest of our vibrant community. You will be able to take full advantage of all our events and activities and hopefully wish to play a part in creating the programmes and services that make up the life of Radlett Reform Synagogue.

As a synagogue member you also have the opportunity to make a difference both within the congregation and community at large, and to share your skills and interests with others and connect with the people who make Radlett Reform Synagogue the friendly and caring place that it is.

  •  Attendance at all Sabbath and Festival services in the Synagogue and for the High Holyday services
  • Attendance of your children at Religion School
  • Your attendance at exciting and diverse community events
  • The services and support of our clergy and professional staff
  • Assistance and back up from a local team of experienced volunteers
  • Regular communications, including our weekly email ReNew
  • Attendance at the AGM and participation in all Synagogue elections
  • Burial/Internment/Cremation rights in our Cemeteries

Non-Jewish Partners

We welcome non-Jewish partners as part of Radlett Reform Synagogue. Many find themselves engaged in the community and Jewish life and may be closely involved in the Jewish upbringing of our younger members or simply supporting their partners in their Jewish life.

You are welcome to attend any services, the regular Friday night and Saturday morning services and the Festival services. Please join in with any of the prayers you feel are appropriate for you. Your partner may explain what is happening, but if you would like more guidance to follow the service, please ask. The person who greets you when you arrive is often a warden or council member and will be pleased to help you. There are many social events for you to just enjoy or contribute to by helping with the organisation.

Should you want to extend your knowledge of Judaism, there are various courses that you can attend and it is especially good to go together with your partner. As part of a member household, you will be invited with other recent new members to a social event, where you will meet the clergy, council members and chairs of various committees, all of whom will be delighted to tell you more about Radlett Reform Synagogue and encourage you to feel part of the community.

If you have any questions, or would like further information now, please contact a member of clergy or the synagogue office.

Annual Membership Contribution

The community is entirely self-funding and all our costs are covered by the generosity of our members, through annual member contributions and topped up by other donations and bequests.

Membership contributions are established at a standard rate, related to various categories of membership.

These contributions are eligible for tax relief as the Synagogue is a registered Charity.
